Plumfield Moms
We are sisters in Christ who became friends over a shared love of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, found especially in good and great books. Our primary vocation is that of marriage and motherhood, but we feel a secondary call, as educators and homeschool moms, to walk with families who are seeking to help form souls who are capable of responding to the vocation God has called them to. Our objective is to form our children and grandchildren to the best of our ability, and in so doing share what has been meaningful to us with others that it may encourage them and lighten their burden. As homeschoolers, classical educators and Christians, we have a passion for the ancient Greek paideia and the loving education of Louisa May Alcott‘s Plumfield (from her novel Little Men).

Sarah Applegate, Diane's daughter, was homeschooled and is now homeschooling her children.
From her reflection: Learning is a life-long process for your child and for you. The homeschooling process for your family will be ever-changing, but hopefully, constantly refining. Perfection is not an option in the lesson plans. Remember that there are people you don’t even know raising prayers on your behalf, and never forget that God gave those children to you and you to them, and He doesn’t make mistakes.

In today's episode of Plumfield and Person, Diane and Sara talk with Sara's friend, Fr. Jordan Neeck, O. Praem, a priest of St. Norbert Abbey in DePere, Wisconsin about Mary Shelly's novel Frankenstein. Sara and Fr. Jordan have read this powerful story several times together. Once as part of a Senior Religion class that Fr. Jordan was teaching, another time with some young adult ladies, and once with their Tuesday Night Classics club that that we have talked about before. In this episode, we talk about how the book was received by each of those audiences, why Diane, Sara, and Fr. Jordan appreciate it, and other books that it pairs well with.

After our wonderful conversation with Kathy Seeger earlier this fall, we knew that we wanted to meet with more "library ladies" and hear their unique stories. In this episode, we enjoyed chatting with Sherry Early of Meriadoc Homeschool Libary, Sandy Hall of Hall's Living Library, and May Schubert of Pursell Schubert Legacy Library. This conversation is divided into two episodes. This is the second half of the conversation.
